Matjö, the project space of the charitable BBK Köln e.V., is both an independent, experimental exhibition space as well as a centre for vocational information and services. The team and board are culturally and politically engaged and stand up for the interests of artists through the BBK. In order to make the great artistic potential of the city visible, Matjö’s exhibition programme consciously focuses on local artists. This means not only Cologne-based artists, but also initiatives originating in Cologne. Furthermore, Matjö is engaged in collaborations with other internationally networked institutions, to actively promote and support intercultural artistic exchange.
