Brückenmusik #31: Advice

For Brückenmusik 31 the artists Ed Atkins and Chris Shields will present ‚Advice‘, a promenadic cinema situation specifically designed for the hollow body of the Deutzer Bridge, gently discovering the site’s existing acoustic and visual phenomena through guided tours.

Adkins and Shields write: “440 meters of darkness suspended between river and rail. Small mechanical guides ferry sentimental music and sound into the dark and back. Daylight is stoppered, coloured or coaxed in from outside—a cinema to be discovered. Everything is found, and everything is placed. A tenderly, recessive work disclosing what is already there.”

“Advice” is the second collaboration between Ed Atkins and Chris Shields, after their composition „Still, Small Voice“ for the church organ of Koncert Kirken commissioned by the Organ Sound Art Festival, Copenhagen, 2024.
