Bärbel Messmann

In her works on paper, Bärbel Messmann explores the effect of colours, lines and structures - sometimes on the threshold of figurativeness - and expands the imagination of colour by combining painting with language.

Her exhibition at the "artothek - Raum für junge Kunst" presents small-format drawings and paintings. They unfold on the walls and in display cases, glow restrainedly in their differentiated colourfulness, flicker or sink into themselves, and enter into a dialogue with the neighbouring pictures or create their own pictorial world as layers.
