The film Kara Kafa, completed in the early 1980s by Turkish director Korhan Yurtsever, is dedicated to Turkish labor migration to Germany. It tells of loneliness, political resistance, trade union organization and the feminist movement. After it was made in 1980, the film was banned by the censorship committee in Turkey because it would "offend the honor of Germany, the befriended nation". The director consequently went into exile in Germany.

What is it about? Turkish metalworker Cafer migrates to Germany with his family in the hope of a better life. But conflicts soon arise within and outside the family. Cafer's wife becomes involved in the women's movement and changes both externally and mentally due to the influence of friends, his older son is lonely and doesn't want to go to school, his daughter has to stay at home and look after her newborn brother. The original negatives of the film were surprisingly rediscovered and restored in 2022, so that it is now possible to see this unique contemporary document in the Lichtspiele Kalk and talk to the director afterwards.
